Software engineer & aspiring software architect

Pious Alpha

Software engineer with three-plus years in banking and financial services at Accenture. I build and own the SLA-monitoring engine every client-facing department of a bank depends on, and co-authored its data contract. I design systems, both kinds: software architecture and UI design systems. In the evenings I work through a full computer science curriculum (OSSU), toward a software architect role.

Experience

Software engineer, Accenture

Jun 2023 – present · Brussels, Belgium

  • Built and own the SLA-monitoring engine that every client-facing department of a bank depends on: it tracks over 30,000 SLAs in settlement and regulatory mail workflows that had gone untracked because of the volume.
  • Designed it as declarative trackers that run unattended: each one defines which mail it detects, how that mail is classified and which dates start and stop the SLA clock.
  • The unit is a conversation thread, not a mail: two-level deduplication keeps replies and forwards from adding records, and the engine fails toward a possible duplicate, never a silent loss.
  • Co-authored the SLA log's data contract: one record per thread, what the start and end dates mean, and the rules that keep the numbers honest for forecasting and reconciliation.
  • Engineer on the migration of 850+ ASP/VBScript applications to React and Java, in the team that kept the legacy systems running for 200+ bank users with zero downtime.
  • Part of the team that defined the target stack (React, Spring Boot, DRL-based mail routing) and the API contracts that became the standard for the migrated services.
  • Took part in code reviews across teams, as post-release defects fell by an estimated 25%, and helped set the unit-testing standards (JUnit, Jest) that took coverage from near zero to 60%+.
  • Helped refactor the internal codebase, cutting average feature implementation time by about 30%.
  • Co-wrote the component-level architecture documentation that 3+ teams use.
  • Also build software, including UI design systems.

Parking Counter app

Jan 2024 – Apr 2026

  • Owned the architecture and development of a React app used across 20+ bank locations.
  • Designed its state management, location-based routing and caching layer, weighing client-side caching (speed) against server-side validation (accuracy).
  • Its CRUD data flow and API patterns became the reference for similar internal tools.

Platform engineering & DevOps

personal and professional

  • Terraform to manage GitHub organizations as code.
  • Custom GitHub Apps for governance and workflow enforcement.
  • User and team onboarding through Microsoft Entra ID (SAML).
  • Repository templates with GitHub Actions CI/CD and CODEOWNERS.
  • Rulesets from security and release policies: code freeze, standard pipelines, peer review, clear ownership.
